Floatin Replica
The Floatin’ Replica Hold Set by Core Climbing is a recreation of the iconic V16 / 8C+ boulder Floatin’, found deep in the granite forest of Mt Mizugaki, Japan. Known for its powerful, precise movements and minimal holds, Floatin’ is one of the most coveted ascents in modern bouldering.
Floatin' was first climbed by Ryuichi Murai. You can see the importance of precision and preparation in his video below:
The Floatin’ project started when Will Bosi approached Core Climbing, inspired by his experience on the Burden of Dreams replica. In early 2025, he and Teresa Coimbra visited Mt. Mizugaki to gather precise scans and data from the boulder. Back in the UK, Leo Moger 3D printed the holds, with Will consulting to ensure every detail captured the feel of the original.
What began as a bespoke training project for one of the world’s top climbers, is now available to all our customers. The Floatin’ replica is ideal for gyms, competitions and training centers looking to bring world-class movement to indoor walls.
To support a range of climbers, we've developed three suggested variations using the Neo hold sets available as an add on and each hold numbered to aid setting:
Walkin’ (V4-V6) – Positive holds and jibs for a technical but approachable version
Bouncin’ (V9–V10) – Less secure feet and more dynamic movement
Floatin’ (V16 grade) – The full 8C+ replica for advanced climbers[All at a recommended 30-35 degree angled wall]
First launched at The Climbing Hangar Sheffield, the Floatin’ replica is available now, with feature events and a behind-the-scenes film coming soon.
