Parthian Climbing Southampton

Fast work on the South Coast

Parthian Climbing is a huge wall on the edge of Southampton easily accessed from the M271. The climbing wall is located inside a brand new building and features both lead walls and bouldering built by Entre-Prises.

Because the mezzanine was being put in quite late in the build schedule, we were asked to survey and install the matting in two separate phases. This concept worked out well and helped keep the site clear enabling other sub contractors to work without interruption. The matting for the main boulder area which includes the Olympic Competition wall was installed first, 2 weeks before the Mezz and training areas. This gave the route setters the opportunity to set and test the boulders safely whilst the Mezzanine area of the bouldering walls were being put up EP.

A super efficient install was required. For the installation the total site time over 3 visits was 21 hours. Each artic offload was swiftly achieved with the help of EP’s telehandler and Operations Director, Tom Vassen’s team. The main area without the carpet top was installed in just 6 hours. The Mezzanine and the carpets were installed over an afternoon and a further 8 hours.

Since 2015 we have used CORE Climbing for a  number of replacement and repair matting jobs, so when it came to our latest Southampton build, where we would require not only quotes for pricing and estimated time of delivery but also elements of design, working with Entre-Prises who are doing the main wall build, due to our previous experience, it made complete sense to get them to quote for the job. From the initial quotation stages, Stephen, Tim and the rest of the team were a pleasure to work with. Not only were they able to assure us that they would deliver on our timescales, during a time when securing matting in the UK was problematic, they also were able to advise on the project to give us the best possible product but also save money with clever design alterations. During every step of the installation process, from delivery dates through to the team being on site to install, which was done in a couple of stages, there was clear communication, and it goes without saying the job has been completed to an excellent standard. We couldn’t be happier with the end result, and would absolutely recommend, and ourselves will use CORE Climbing in the future.”
